Lamora Llorens is a senior at Tennessee Technological University where she is double majoring in Business Management and Marketing. Lamora is a member of a number of professional student organizations including Alpha Kappa Psi Co-ed Professional Business Fraternity, where she holds the position as President, Mortar Board Senior Honor Society, and Merchandising Association.

During the past four summers, Lamora interned with Vector Marketing, a nationally recognized firm for creating a unique and rewarding work opportunity for students and helping build a resume that can take them anywhere. Their program provided her with valuable experience and insight into sales, management and becoming a business owner. Lamora is currently a Resident Assistant in the on-campus residence halls, and has also worked heavily with the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department on campus. This year is her second time planning the Annual Eagle Works Competition where students form teams focused around an innovative business idea, write a business plan, and pitch their idea to a panel of judges in a Shark Tank fashion.

Outside of academics, Lamora enjoys performing arts, hiking, crafting, dream journaling and traveling. Her interest in travel began during the fall semester of 2014 when she had the opportunity to study abroad in Brazil. Because of this experience, Lamora is looking to further her education after graduation and pursue a MBA in International Business.

How do you define a millennial?

A millennial is someone who was born around the late 80s to the late 90s. They just so happened to be a part of a technologically advanced time period so their lives, opinions and actions reflect these experiences from growing up. A millennial is also more open-minded to change than previous generations and looks to challenge the status quo while improving ways of doing things in the past.

How would you describe your personality?

I would say I am very adventurous and willing to try new things. I’m very self-motivated and driven towards success (not just monetary success, but finding my purpose) in life. I am also a very happy person and love to laugh.

What is an interesting fact not many people know about you?

I’ve been to over 80+ weddings in my life so far.

What are you passionate about?

I’m very passionate about travel and adventure.

What has been your biggest challenge so far and how have you overcome it?

My biggest challenge so far in life has been getting through college financially. I knew college was only possible if I were to fund it myself. I was honestly very afraid of debt and had heard countless horror stories about student debt before I even came to college but luckily I started early my senior year of high school and applied to countless scholarships and grants and won quite a few. I’ve also held 2 part-time jobs all throughout the year and at one point had a third just to make sure I could pay for tuition, housing, books, food and other phone and car bills throughout the year. My goal was to graduate debt free, but unfortunately that didn't happen. But I am proud to say I am graduating within 4 years with a double major; I was able to fulfill a dream of mine to study abroad; I bought my own car in full; and I will walk across the stage as a Cum Laude with only $7,000 in student loans.

How does your culture influence your identity?

I feel like I’ve been a part of almost every type of culture at some point in my life, so I can identify with many different people. I was born in a really small town that only had one high school, I’ve been home schooled, I’ve lived in a very large city, I’ve gone to a very wealthy school, I’ve gone to a very stereotypical inner city school, and so on. I also know what it’s like to be a minority because I’m multiracial and a female and now I’m at a very rural school with very little diversity. But because I’ve had all these different experiences, it has helped shape me to be more understanding and empathetic towards a broader range of diverse individuals.

What brings you happiness?

Knowing I can positively influence others and have done the best I could do. I also love every opportunity I get to travel and experience a new place.

What is your five-year plan?

In the next 5 years I will be graduated with my MBA and will be working towards finding my passion and doing something I love.
